Hi, everybody, how are you?

Crypto market today s in a mess and express strong uptrend again. Bitcoin and other important Odd coins jump up over 10 % followed by over 5-8% yesterday. Crypto never sleep.

It is a cloudy day in Hong Kong today after typhoon attacked yesterday. Hope that the weather will be getting better in the coming few days.

These photos are taken around 6.30pm and so the environment is getting dark. Therefore I have adopted higher ISO and lower Shutter speed in order to make the photos look brighter. As usual, supplementary lighting with Strobe was being used in order to make our model's face look good and shiny.

Camera: Nikon D7200
Settings: ISO 1000
Shutter speed: 1/80- 1/120
Lens: AFS Nikkor 85mm f1.8G
Gearing: Strobe, while umbella
Color checking: Xrite color checker

Location : Polytechnic University of Hong Kong

One very important point when you take photos at evening is the quick changing of white balance (WB) value. While balance is actually measuring the color temperature (not the actual colour ) of the light. A simple rule of thumb is that sunlight at noon is around 5600 Kelvin (depending on which brand), evening sunlight is around 6500 K or above You may set Auto WB when you take photos any time any where but you will lose control and camera is still not so clever enough to provide you a accurate WB checking/value at the moment

It take time to understand the concept/knowledge behind. My simple setting is that I will use CTO filter to cover the strobe light bulb and adjust the light to become orange in color. Then I will adjust WB setting of my camera to around 3200 -3500 Calvin (unit of WB ) n order to turn the color temperature of the light that covered the model. Then her face colour tone will b ecome normal. However, the area those the strobe light cannot covered will become blue tone

This technique is useful even when you take photos inside a restaurant which normally will be covered by tunseng light which will give you a too warm/yellow feeling. The following photo is an example that i use this technique.

Color of the model's face is normal. Color tone of the background turned blue.
