After spending 2 weeks in Kosovo I headed west to Albania. To my surprise they don't have public transportation, and private car ownership was banned until the early 1990s. So I found out about the next best thing, called a Furgon. Essentially, an old mini-van with no set schedule or pick up point. Packed in with locals bringing vegetables from the market I serenaded them on guitar as we made our way up to Northern Albania. We finally arrived, near the Alps lies the Koman-Fierze River. It gorges through the Albanian fjords in breathtaking fashion. A 2:30 hour tour with sweeping views. I photographed the entire journey.
Check out the boat on the bottom left for reference, the mountain is massive!
As I was drinking my ice cold Albanian beer, Peja, I had a wonderful broken English conversation with the boat captain who makes this trip back & forth all day. He expressed his deep concern that people are polluting the river with trash and the efforts that are being done to preserve such a beauty.
