Sharing some photographs I took while visiting Old Salem Historic District, it was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1966. A Moravian settlement in North Carolina during the 18th and 19th centuries that consists of communal buildings, churches, houses, and shops.
The John Vogler House built in 1819. John was a silversmith and this house is open for tours where you can learn about clocks and silver.
T. BAGGE MERCHANT was built in 1775. It is a community store for Old Salem Museums & Gardens. At this historic shop you can buy distinctive merchandise from tradesmen, craftsmen, and select vendors. T. Bagge also offers educational children’s toys and books.
This Tavern in Old Salem is known and loved for their Chicken Pot Pie.
MIKSCH GARDENS and House Built in 1771 as the first single family home built in Salem, NC. You can visit the Matthew Miksch Gardens to explore the the gardens, orchards and yard.
The Winkler Bakery built in 1800. The Bakery’s oven is still heated with wood as it was from conception. This is a must try delight.
I. Bonn apothecary (Pharmacist)
While strolling through and taking the pictures that I could, I stumbled upon this home for sale. It is selling for over $500,000.00
I had to take a picture of the obelisk High Rise off in the distance. It is like time traveling, yet standing still.
