First Days On The Farm

in #photography7 years ago

So, this adventure in homesteading hasn't been easy. We purchased this piece of property only a few short months after I suffered a severe back injury. It has made moving forward with our plans and goals slow going, though I feel that it has been all the more rewarding. Here are a few pictures of our land and it's bounty right from the very beginning.

There is a beautiful pond in the back of our property that is teaming with ducks and geese. All along the shore grow edible water plants and huge blueberry bushes.

It was worth making the hike down to see it, even though i was still on the cane at the time.

These are some of the blueberry bushes by the shore of the pond, both Low Bush and High Bush Blueberry's all along the waters edge. The High Bush stand well over sixteen feet tall.

In front of one stretch of stone wall, there used to be strawberry beds. Sadly, these are gone now.

While a good chunk of the property had been previously cleared, a great deal of it had gone wild again. We have been slowly clearing out underbrush and felling trees very selectively, both for firewood and to open up the dense woods.

I hope you have enjoyed these few photos from the early days of our farm. Work has been moving along and I will post more pictures from over the last few years, leading up to our projects for this year.

Welcome to Steemit my friend and it looks like you have a beautiful piece of land there.

I also have back issues and use Kratom for the pain and brain fog associated with it. If you haven't heard of it, I advise you to look it up.

Where roughly are you located?

I wish you the best, my friend.

Thank you, it is good to be here! We really lucked out with this piece if property, no doubt. We are located in Southern New Hampshire, not far from the Mass boarder.

isnt nature amazing

It truly is. We work very hard to work with nature and not against it. The land around us already provides so much, it seems foolish to fight that natural abundance of life.

Trimming and pruning your plants allows for increased air circulation and fewer leaves for your to spill water on

I understand. These pictures were taken before any work had actually begun on the farm. This is how the property was when we first bought it.
