The Old and Forgotten Cemetery

I just arrived back from Naissaar which is a small island of Estonia. We went there with friends to do a disc golf contest, enjoy a great sauna and drink lots of beer. Needless to say, I'm really tired right now. I had planned to write an Icelandic volcano post but that takes some real effort, it will be an extensive post but I have no strength for it today.
I still have a lot of content that I captured earlier this year so I will make a short post of one of these cases.

Back in February, I didn't want to sit at home all day. Decided to drive somewhere and hopefully see someplace that I haven't yet.
I found this old cemetery where it looks like all the graves are long forgotten and overall the place is quite in ruins.

The weather was trash and the photos are poor that's why I'm not even bothering to upload these to a photography group.

I don't know what that is but I always have this strange feeling visiting historic, forgotten or old cemeteries. The oldest gravesite I was able to find, dates back to 1814. Many crosses and gravestones were so worn out by elements that these were unreadable.

Many crosses had fallen over and it doesn't look like any grave site was cared by someone.

Buildings in the place were probably used for funeral events but these were in ruin too.

This gravestone reads the 1845 date, not much more can be made out.

Many crosses that had fallen over were collected together by someone but no one probably knows where these belong exactly so they have just collected these in piles.

Here are some more photos I took at the site.

I will try to make the volcano post happen tomorrow if nothing comes up that takes a lot of time from the day, stay tuned!

It's interesting to see how the elements have worn away the gravestones and crosses over time. It's also sad to see that the cemetery seems to be forgotten and neglected.

I can understand why you would feel a strange feeling visiting a place like this. There's something about old cemeteries that can be both peaceful and eerie at the same time. It's a place where people have come to say goodbye to their loved ones, and it's a reminder of the passage of time.

I guess the strangest is the no one comes to visit or maintain these graves. Is there really no one close to these people.

Snow all around, I would love to visit this place one day. How often it snow there?

Depends on the year really. Some winter we have snow on the ground all the time for months. In another year we get mostly rain and rarely get a white ground.

That looks creepy. Hades could have appeared eminently :) How brave, looks like you stepped in.

A bit spooky yes but have to see these interesting locations 😅

I myself would love to go to a snowy place like this, but from where we live it's a 24-hour journey by bus, so we can go to a snowy place and soon my friends With plain that we will definitely visit Bhavane and see such scenic views as we see in the pictures.

Right now we dont get to see any snow anywhere close. Winter time is not a problem tho.
Great, hoping you will have an awesome trip!

Hope so.
