I remember when I took these pictures. It was at a cultural event that took place in the street near where I live. The day passed between dances, music, clowns and theater.
While everything was happening, under an awning, was this old man, listening carefully to a man who played the Bandola, a four-string instrument used in the traditional music of Venezuela and Colombia.
While I was capturing these moments with my camera, the old man related that he always wanted to learn to play this instrument and many others, like the Cuatro, but that he never found the right moment to do it or simply did not have money to buy them or pay for classes. He wanted to be a musician like his grandfather, who was part of a set of Venezuelan folk music. I managed to capture, what for me, was the nostalgia of a person who could never inquire into a completely different world for him: to be a musician.
Sometimes we leave things to do with our lives for different reasons or circumstances. We must pursue our dreams as much as possible, with all our strength, whatever our goal may be.
