Toy Review: Hasbro Titanium Series Pt. I - Tantive IV

For this blog, I will be dividing it into a three-part short review which will consist of three collectibles of the same line. Each review will be posted daily.

For the first part, I will be reviewing the Tantive IV die-cast metal model of Hasbro's Titanium Series. The Titanium Series is almost similar to the plastic-mold Micro Machines series, with most of the releases being 3 inches in length. The ships are made of a mix of die-cast metal and plastic parts.

The Tantive IV was the first ship to be seen in the Star Wars saga, where in A New Hope, it was pursued by Darth Vader's Imperial Star Destroyer, the Devastator. In-universe, it is classified as a CR90 corvette. It is a multipurpose ship that was known as the Rebel blockade runner during the Galactic Civil War. The Tantive IV served as Princess Leia's vessel that escaped the Battle of Scarif, carrying the blueprints of the first Death Star (Rogue One) until it was captured by the Devastator (A New Hope).

The ship is sealed in a clamshell package that includes a small brochure of the Titanium Series and a display stand. The stand's peg makes it possible to rotate the ship on lateral 360-degree arc, with the "Star Wars" title embossed in iridescent chrome. Most ships in the series have one movable part. For this one, the satellite dish at the dorsal section can be rotated.

I'd rate the details a 7.5 out of 10. I found the color scheme of the engines very impressive. The major blunder here is that the color of the stripes is blue, where in the film it is dark red. The details give a bit awe, but the wrong stripe color takes it away a bit. Given that it is mostly die-cast metal, we can't expect superb details.

I got the Tantive IV for $8. Given that it has been a while since it was first released, there could be some difficulty finding this in local toy/hobby shops.

Stay tuned for Part II!

The Tantive IV looks pretty neat! It would be cool to have some of the larger Mon Calamari ships in model form at that size!
