Toy Preview: Wonder Woman Figures at SDCC!!!

Yes, you read that right. I'm doing a toy preview for the Wonder Woman figures on display as we speak at this year's San Diego Comic Con!!!

I am a huge fan of Gal Gadot's iteration of Wonder Woman, and it brings me great joy to own action figures based on her (in addition, I am very OC when it comes to the face sculpt!). I selected the toy brands that, for me, bring the best action figures in terms of detailed sculpts and articulation.

Medicom Toys MAFEX
MAFEX already gave us the Batman v Superman version of Wonder Woman, to mixed reviews due to the dissimilarities of the final product to the prototype. They already announced the solo movie version of Wonder Woman, which is going to be released in the closing months of 2017. What shocked me was that MAFEX's exhibit revealed a Wonder Woman figure based on her appearance in the upcoming film Justice League!

As you can see, the color accents are brighter compared to the BvS and solo movie versions. One issue the BvS version had, which will be inherited by the upcoming solo movie version, is the restricted head articulation due to the hair sculpt. It seems MAFEX heard our pleas and finally fixed it by altering the sculpt by making it look like it's being blown by the wind. With her hair on her back, it's likely the head is now movable.

Besides the hair, she has a new bandolier, now strapped at her right side.

Bandai S.H. Figuarts
Compared to Medicom Toys, Bandai does better sculpts, details, and articulation. For the first time, Bandai touches Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. Since they announced the Justice League Batman, I was highly anticipating their announcement for Wonder Woman. Unfortunately, their reveal was not what I expected.

For some reason, the sculptor made a Slavic or Russian version of Gal Gadot. Her blue skirt was a bit of a let down, since it looked a bit plain, unlike MAFEX's that has more depth. The armor detail and the lasso look better than MAFEX's. Bandai's version showed chrome lines on the W-shaped chest part of the armor and at the upper portion of the left arm bracelet that I didn't notice before.

This is only a prototype though, so I hope they get Gal Gadot's face right!

Hot Toys
Hot Toys' releases are expensive (and way beyond my budget!) due to the fact that they produce the most detailed figures of movie characters to the point that they look very creepy. The sculpts they bring to their consumers are beyond lifelike, and they even take notice on details we never knew were there! Their bestsellers are Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man (or rather, Men, because of the different versions) and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow.

The Hong Kong-based figure maker has obtained the license for Wonder Woman, and the results are beyond description! Hot Toys obviously caught up with MAFEX, with the former having already created all versions of the DCEU Wonder Woman. They include the training armor version from the Wonder Woman solo film.

So..

...much...

...beauty...

...and..

...creepiness!!!
