Late Night Collage Thoughts

It’s already late night, but I still have a little energy left to write this post.

Earlier I had the urge to go outside and do photography. That feeling comes suddenly sometimes, like my hands are looking for something to capture even when my body is already supposed to be resting. But when I looked outside, it was too dark. I already know the photos won’t come out the way I want them to, and I don’t want to force it. Some scenes need daylight, and some moments are better saved for tomorrow.

So instead, I did the next best thing: I browsed my camera roll.

I found a set of photos that didn’t really belong to any of my other folders or themes. Just random shots I took here and there, when something caught my attention for a few seconds, when the light looked good, when I noticed texture, pattern, or a small detail that felt worth keeping. Occasionally I do this: I collect these “in-between” photos and collage them together. Tonight’s post is one of those collections for my 365 day photo challenge.

Looking at them again, I’m reminded why I enjoy black and white so much. It helps me focus on shape and contrast, the tight clusters of tiny buds, the delicate strands of that bright, firework-like flower, and even the berries with water droplets hanging like small glass beads. There’s also the leaf with marks and imperfections, which somehow makes it more honest. Not everything has to be perfect to be photo-worthy.

This is what I like about the challenge. Even when I can’t shoot at the moment, I can still create something, by revisiting, arranging, and appreciating what I’ve already captured.

Have a good night.
