Continuing on the Asian Highlands trail at the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium after the Red Panda exhibit I came to the White-naped Crane exhibit.

White-naped Crane
White-naped Cranes stand about 4 feet (1.25 meters) high and weigh 12 pounds (5.6 kilograms).
The native habitat of White-naped Cranes are the grassy marshes, lake depressions and boggy upland wetlands, wet sedge meadows and reedbeds in broad river valleys of northern Mongolia, central China, southern Siberia, North and South Korea, and Japan.

Thank You!
Thank you!
Awesome! Love seeing things like this. We go to a local place called Popcorn Park Zoo. It's a great place where they take in injured or sick animals and rehab them. Sometimes they can be released...sometimes they become permanent residents. Either way, tons of awesome birds there....reminded me when I just saw your post. I should do a post on PPZ this week!!!
I love that bird

Seeing the flexibility of their necks is what captivated me. I don't think I have ever seen a bird with such a flexible neck.
