Fashion Photography (‐^▽^‐)

in #photography8 years ago

Hi gang! I hope everyone is having a lovely day (/^▽^)/

Today I will show you my first well paid gig for a fashion design student. Some of these photos were inside a shop which makes me very proud because that's from when I was just starting out properly getting into professional photography! (*≧▽≦)

The photos were taken inside Griffith College in Dublin and most of them are using natural light and just a bit of a reflector. I had huge help from my lovely friend @condra who was kind enough for me to use his gear and camera! As I only use Nikon cameras and lenses, it was a bit difficult to adjusting to the layout of @condra 's Canon camera.

The model's were Rebecca Durkan and Hannah Durkan and they are twin sisters who also do ballet. They were perfect for this photo series as they both were super fashionable in general and had the attitude and elegance that was needed for the theme of the shoot.

Above is a picture of some of the outfits that were done by the day we had the shoot. Yi Hsin Chen designed all these beautiful pieces and made them come to life. She only had a limited time before the final fashion show that was happening in the college and she needed some photos to be done to submit for her final assignment.

Before we met up with Chen, we discussed the things that she's expecting of me and what I expect of the overall workflow that will be happening during the shoot. We sat down for some coffee when we met and looked at possible locations. One of the locations was a studio that was part of the college in a separate building however the equipment there was way too awkward to set up so we just decided on using the inside of the college's architecture.

The inside of the college was absolutely stunning, with large windows , vintage furniture and absolutely gorgeous lighting because the rooms were quite small in size meaning that the only source of light was the windows.

I was very lucky to have such an amazing team and location for this photo series , it would have been hard to ruin it even with my amateur skills at the time. With stunning models part of the Assets modelling agency , clothing design by one of the most talented people I've met Yi Hsin Chen, make up and hair by the amazing Noeleen Cunnigham who has a very successful make up career and one of the most amazing people in my life who is also my mentor @condra (=´∇`=)

At the time I was practicing different editing styles however for this series I wanted to keep the colors consistent so I chose a pinkish - purplish color scheme to go with the attitude of the garments.

At the time my editing wasn't ideal and I was learning ways of editing skin not to make it look superficial and in general trying to find my own style. I loved having the perfect background so I fixed up things that I didn't want in the images and added some blur which made the backgrounds look a bit artificial now that I'm looking at them from a different perspective. However it was my style and to this day , I feel that these images were the start of my career.

I love the innocence and the elegance of these portraits as to compliment the garments.

The day was nerve-wracking and I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to deliver to my client of what she expected of me so I spend many hours trying to get the perfect colors which made some of the images look overdone.

I gave the client over 100+ images with different editing styles and cropping in case she wasn't happy with the ones that I already did which was an amateur step thing showing that I was not confident in my skill. Even right now I'm choosing only my favorite photos from the whole set to show you guys as there is too much to post.

As you can see, I played around with different angles and poses, where as right now I would try to stick with the same theme and attitude to keep consistency.

I will end my post with these images and for those that have read the full post , thank you so much for sticking around! I hope that this post was informative and I tried to keep it well written as to make up for my previous post.

Here is a little treat for you guys, you can see my little images in a shop in Dublin on full display ! The garment is there of course and for anyone who wants to buy it...its probably already gone as this was from 2015 (and it costs around 1000+ euros)

Great photos, very professional :)

Thank you ɾ⚈▿⚈ɹ !!

Very nice. I'd like to try doing a fashion shoot sometime but it's not really my style, I feel awkward trying to pose people.

I'd be interested in seeing some of your least favorite images from that shoot too.

Thank you ヽ(〃・ω・)ノ and I don't do as much fashion photography as I used to because the market is just way too competitive , and yes posing people can be awkward ˭̡̞(◞⁎˃ᆺ˂)◞*✰ and there are wayyyy too many !
