Dahlia Flower (Dahlia)

in #photography2 days ago

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a weekend that brought some interesting experiences into your life! In my new post I would like to introduce you to a flower in more detail and I am happy if you can learn new things.

When I was outside today, I took pictures of a delicate dahlia flower, which is also known under the scientific name Dahlia and originally comes from Mexico, where it was already highly valued in ancient cultures and was already known to the natives. There are traces that suggest how important it was already for the Aztecs, who cultivated dahlias on a large scale and used them as a crop and ate various parts of the plant and with the first conquerors in Mexico, the plant was also known in Europe, but it should take a while until it spreads more there. Between the 18th and 19th century it became more and more popular in Europe and reached various countries and where exactly it first gained a foothold in Europe is not entirely clear, but it is suspected that it was especially spread by Spanish people and the plant got the botanical name in honor of the Swedish botanist Anders Dahl (1751 - 1789). The women's name Dalia is also derived from this genus and because of the diversity, many new crosses have emerged in recent centuries and nowadays it is assumed that there are tens of thousands of species in all possible colors and not only for decoration, but also for culinary purposes dahlias are very popular and it also enjoys popularity with insects. There are different possibilities where it is used particularly frequently and in addition to the use as a ornament, it is also used to obtain medicines or dyes from it and it is also popular in the medical field where different parts of the plant are processed into medicines to use the high potential. As always, I would like to mention that I would like to generalize this topic in this article and that people should always ask the doctor or pharmacist they trust about the correct use or possible side effects in case of illness to avoid complications!
