Neither you or your beloved pet are having a good day at the vet when you are told that your dog has bladder stones, and that they can be seen clearly in the x-ray because they are nicely contained in the bladder that has just herniated out of the body wall after the pelvis was crushed by a car.
Fortunately, this patient did wonderfully, although it was a long road, and it was the first time I've ever done a cystotomy with the bladder outside of the abdomen when I started.
