Abandoned theme park in Germany

in #photography7 years ago

The Fränkisches Wunderland (Franconian Wonderland) is a leisure park at Plech in Oberfranken. The park is located directly on the highway A9 between Bayreuth and Nuremberg.  Since its opening in 1976, the park has grown steadily. From the beginning, the park has been expanded and expanded. Over the years, three thematic areas emerged: the fairy tale forest, a western town and an action area.

The first roller coaster came into the park in 1993 and bears the name Kansas City Express. Since  1996/1997 there are several new attractions: the climbing mountain  "Himalaja", a chain carousel, a dragon tower with slides, as well as the  electric shooting hall "Golden Colts Saloon".  In 2003, further innovations followed. In addition, a Sling-Shot system was opened in 2004, which existed until the year 2011 in the park. In 2007 a 3000 m² play and action hall was opened.  2012, the water  bombshooter "WaterShots" was created in the western town for children  and adults on the site of the former Sling-Shots.

In 2014, the park was closed during the entire season and some of the rides were dismantled. An originally planned new opening in the 2015 season was not realized. However, there are still plans to maintain the facility. The investor wants to re-open the park 2017 with many new attractions and a further developed concept. For individual events the park was reopened as from September 2016. Beside of that not much is happening there.

Wow! must be creepy at night!

nbisschen wie Fort Fun im Sauerland? Cool nie von dem Park gehört

Sehr cool.

Have you checked out the Spreepark in Berlin?

Yes, I have. What bothers me about the Spreekpark is that you'll never be alone there. It's so crowded.

Yea, it's funny how it had become an 'abandoned' destination...
