It is unusual to see the sky filled with bright and colorful stars. But last Sunday was an exception. The famous Sinulog Festival in Cebu City, Philippines ended up with a pyroclastic exhibition in different places within the city.
The Chinese people believe that firecrackers scare and drive away evil spirits. So on Chinese New Year, they make noise in any way they can.
While some Filipinos agree with the Chinese people on this matter, I see that pyroclastic exhibitions offer other great things. For festivals like the Sinulog, it is a grand way to end a festive mood.
For the Cebuanos and the visitors coming from different places around the globe, the fireworks display provides a feeling of awe and excitement. What a sight to behold! It's indeed a starry, starry night.
I can't wait for next year to have another one like this! Thanks to the sponsors (Ayala Malls, SM Malls, Crown Regency Hotel, Cebu City government, to name a few)... and many thanks to the Chinese people for inventing gun powder.
