The Sojourn

I had dreamed of this moment for so long, and now it was here. After travelling 18 650 km and planning that took a good part of just over a year.

I had arrived in Reykjavik, Iceland.

I could not believe my eyes as I gazed out at the beautiful landscape before me; dark clouds looming above mountains rising from behind them, like an image taken straight from a postcard!

My heart swelled with joy and excitement as I realised that all my hard work to make this journey was worth it; there were no expectations or boundaries on what I should do or be here - just freedom and exploration.

I was spellbound by nature’s beauty and spent every day out in its embrace, soaking up every moment it offered. I ventured through pristine lakes and hiked up mountainside trails- something I never would have imagined myself doing before! It felt like a new life, with never-ending possibilities and endless exploration.

And while I’d come here alone, I was soon to realise that this place was not lonely after all - it had welcomed me as one of its own. The people were warm and inviting; the culture fascinated me and introduced me to a whole other world!

During my trip, I learnt what it means to be alive and connected to something larger than myself; For Iceland showed me how small our lives are compared with nature’s magnificence.

No words can ever describe the beauty of this place, its people, and its culture. Therefore, Iceland will forever hold a special place in my heart. It taught me to be humble and to appreciate the simple things in life - something I’ll never forget.
