Nice is the largest of the cities of the famous Côte d'Azur and one of the most characteristic places in all of France. And no wonder, the history of this seaside city was stormy and full of turns. The ancient Greeks (Nikaia) and Romans (Cemenelum, today's district of Cimiez) established their settlements in today's Nice. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Nice approached the lands that formed today's Italy, Genoa (VII-IX century) and then Pisa (with which it formed an alliance against Genoa and France).
