How to photograph the northern lights?
Observing and photographing the northern lights in the far north is dependent on many factors. First, the place where it should be as dark as possible, which is usually far from big cities. Secondly, from the time associated primarily with the activity of the sun, because the intensity of the aurora depends on the solar wind. Thirdly, from the weather, the sky should be cloudless, and the ambient temperature must give comfort of shooting. Of course, experience and skills are not without significance, as will appear in a moment, not only photographic. Simply, each of our nocturnal exits is always preceded by a thorough analysis of many data and confronted with the map. Where is the chance for a clear sky? Where can you get there? Where is not too much artificial light? However, thanks to such work, every night we can photograph the aurora in the sky. Each time in beautiful and unusual natural conditions: frozen lakes, rocky fjords, harbors and beautiful beaches with fishing boat wrecks. In the evening, therefore, first plan an expedition, and then consistently implement it. Experience gained during several previous trips and knowledge of the area gives me confidence in making decisions.
