need help with lightroom problem

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

I don't know what's happening with LightRoom but photos I've had filed there have changed. I haven't changed any settings or even edited these photos. When I open a file from the library to the develop tool a bright blue is noted throughout the photo - some worse than others as shown below.

The only thing that helps somewhat is if I reduce the black tone and remove the contrast. It doesn't make for a nice photo with these changes —a lot of detail is messed up.

Anyone know what is happening and how I can fix it? I shoot in RAW and like I said, none of the settings have changed. This seemed to have happened on its own.

Thank you in advance for answers!!!

Your photo is not ruined. Just uncheck the small square in the left corner under the Histogram tab. It only shows you where your photo have "dead pixels" (underexposed). Which is quite normal in difficult lightning situations like on your photos. :)

Lightscapes is right.
Lightroom is displaying the Underexposed parts of images. Uncheck that box... all will be well.

When you are in Develop mode, if you take the Black (or white) slider, and hold the OPTION key down, you can see that when making changes. It helps for making some adjustments.

I'll try that as well tomorrow. Thank you SO much!

That video was very informative. Thank you. I've subscribed to that youtube channel. I really appreciate your help.

There's some good Lightroom and Photoshop stuff there!

Hurray!!!! I will have to try that on my other computer.....I'll let you know if that worked. Thank you soooo much!

No problem :)

What an obvious fix....lol. I opened LR this morning and that little histogram triangle was highlighted....how the heck did I miss that cue. Thanks again, for wandering into the discussion to help. Greatly appreciated.

I'd help if I could - all I can say is that's disheartening to see such beautiful photos ruined - wish I had an answer for you :(

Aw..thanks. I hope someone has some answers bc I have a lot of photos in that library. Maybe I need to delete and reinstall. Who knows. I've done all the updates.

This is disturbingly weird. Sure you don't have a gremlin? I hope you can find a way to fix this disaster...😭

It is weird!! A gremlin...yes! I often think of internet gnomes....but gremlin is good too. I hope I can figure it out as well. I'll probably have to get in touch with Adobe and see what they say....I wonder how many times I'll be transferred to another department ... you know how those phone calls go!

I wish I could help you, but alas I cannot. I wish you luck in finding your answers so you can continue to dazzle us with your photos. : )

Oh that's so sweet of you to say. I think I found the solution from @lightscapes. I have to try it yet but I am very hopeful that's the solution.

That's wonderful I hope that is your solution and that you no longer have any issues with it
