A big hello

My name is Colin and I am 38 years old. I am a real "Berliner" having lived in Berlin for all my life.

I am new to this community but I have heard and read good things about it. So I wanted to give it a go.

I have always been a curious person, being interested in almost everything around me. Nature and the science of it all fascinate me to this day. This was installed by my parents who took us kids back to my moms home country - South Africa - when we where small. That´s where I picked up my first camera and took photos of animals back when I was a small child. It´s also the first time I picked up a rugby ball at age 3 and I have been playing rugby for almost 35 years now. The values of the sport with respect, integrity, loyalty, fairness, teamwork, discipline and hard work have shaped me as a person.

As one can imagine, as a kid I loved every second of it, but as life goes, it took me to a completely different place and I became a general surgeon and have been practicing it for the last 11 years.

This year I decided, it was time for a change. So I quit medicine and started something that I reall love. Photography wasn´t an option but as luck wanted, rugby was.

I am now Head of Physical Performance for the Deutscher Rugby-Verband. The development of the Sport in Germany is a great prospect and the idea of getting more people involved in this great sport and being able to teach about Strength & Conditioning, movement, health and good quality food is something I am really greatful for and dedicated to achieve.

That´s quite a bit to know about me. But why I am here?

Well, back in 2007 I did pick up a camera again and started photography and realized how incredibly interesting even the smallest things in life can be.

Back then it was a little Canon IXUS 40. Times and cameras have changed, but the passion for photography, the little details in life and rugby have stayed with me.

Nature, humans, Sports and the little things are what I photograph mostly, but anything gets in front of my camera if I think the moment was worth capturing.
