Not quite. Set you aperture to as wide as you can, exposure is the same as you would use in the setting and simply dismount your lens, allowing your camera body to work independently from the glass and with the right angles and such you can alter how the depth of field come out. The further away you have the lens from the body, you can really use light leakage as an advantage. This is essentially the predecessor of the tilt-shift lens market
