Do you look up? I try to. Today I went out into the wilderness. Where? My own backyard. Why? Well, to take some pictures. I've found that one way to ease my depression and anxiety is to get outside and take photographs. Many do it, and it works.
Today what caught my eye was the trees and sky. They often do. But, it is still winter, and there's little life about, which can create some interest shots.
I've always had a thing for photographing trees: they are beautiful. In the sunset their barks begin to glow. There is nothing quite like it. And during this time of the year, many of them stand exposed.
In taking the shots the whole process can be disorientating, yet, also grounding.
There is a certain texture to each: each one is different, always. And so, every picture has value, as does every angle. And so, choosing the best afterwards can be a nightmare.
I soon found a magpie up above, staring back at me. I took a picture. Alas, though, for I only have a kit lens. Anyway, here he is (if you can spot him).
I then turned to the sun setting over the field. I had little time, the light was going fast. But what I did capture shows the mood I felt: both cold and warm - both barren and glowing. It's a special thing that photography can capture rather well.
I found the land waterlogged and was thankful for my boots.
Thank you. I hope you enjoyed these photographs. I plan to post throughout the year on my various journeys. I hope you will be there, alongside me, to share in such moments.
Peace out.
