Went to a kid's birthday party, at a little homestead some half hour or so outside of Pretoria. Great fun, and then people started milling around a tree and shouting and pointing - there was a snake in the tree. It was high up and I had to stretch out and somewhat blindly take photos. Most showed a green blur, but at least one worked out decently:
Can you spot the well camouflaged critter? It's a spotted bush snake (Philothamnus sp.). They are not venomous. They constrict their prey and are quite harmless to humans.
