| After our trip to Shantou in 2007, my then-girlfriend & I went to Shenzhen to visit some of her friends. Which was the only time I ever spent more than 5 minutes in a KTV (Chinese karaoke venue). While in Shenzhen, we also went to visit the "Window of the World" theme park. It's located in the Baishizhou (白石洲) district & has its own subway station. So, it's easy to find. | Nach dem kurzen Ausflug nach Shantou in 2007 fuhren wir nach Shenzhen, um ein paar ihrer Freunde zu treffen. | But first we had to find a new hotel. Because the one we had booked was on top of a night club. & the bass was shaking the whole building. So, we had to look around. At least the hotel provided a nice example of Chinglish, though: "Gold color day off leisure club building of office" | Erstmal mußten wir allerdings ein neues Hotel finden. Dasjenige, das wir gebucht hatten, befand sich über einem Nachtclub. & der Bass erschütterte das ganze Gebäude. Immerhin bot das Hotel aber ein nettes Beispiel für Chinglish: |

| The signs below on the white wall look like Maya writing. The reddish statues behind it are definitely Inca, though. | Being not too much into this theme park stuff, I found something interesting for me, too. A nice black-collared starling (Gracupica nigricollis). True. Although, most of it is just a miniature copy of the original, not much context to it. More info than in some Chinese musea, though.
Interesting how they see Africa: there is Egypt & else just (black) Africa, not much distinction (at least in 2007).
