Hangzhou - West Lake again / Nochmal der Westsee

After our short visit to Shanghai's 'Old Town', my then-girlfriend & I went to Hangzhou again. Not so much for sightseeing, but because flying to Canton was much cheaper from Hangzhou than from Shanghai.	Nach unserem Kurzbesuch in Shanghais 'Altstadt' fuhren meine damalige Freundin & ich wieder nach Hangzhou. Nicht so sehr touristisch, sondern monetär begründet. Die Flüge nach Kanton waren dort viel billiger.

I took pictures with 2 cameras & the time stamps don't fit, so I probably didn't get the chronology 100% right. Furthermore, the weather was again pretty bad. Thick heavy smog lay over the city. Tried to enhance the pictures by using GIMP's white balance, which does not necessarily end up looking very realistic. The photos with just contrast correction instead of white balance you will find at the very end of this post.

Nutzte 2 Kameras, deren Zeitstempel nicht passen, also ist der zeitliche Ablauf nicht total korrekt. Außerdem war das Wetter wieder ziemlich mies. Dicker Smog lag über der Stadt. Habe versucht, die Bilder mit Gimp's Weißabgleich zu verbessern, was aber nicht unbedingt sehr natürlich wirkt. Die Fotos nur mit Kontrastkorrektur anstatt Weißabgleich finden sich ganz am Ende dieses Beitrags.

The above is one of a few such sightseeing boats on the West Lake. Don't really see why you would pay extra for using them though. They only offer nice pictures from the outside. & below you see some trick fountains in the lake.	Oben sieht man ein Ausflugsboot, wie es nur wenige auf dem See gibt. Verstehe aber nicht, warum man dafür extra bezahlen sollte. Nur von außen kann man gute Fotos davon machen. Auf dem Bild unten sieht man Wasserspiele im See.

This time we stayed in a Hanting Express or Hanting Inn. This was the 1st time (I think) that I stayed in such an 'inn'. Before 2008 I didn't see such hotels anywhere, but then they spread like wildfire. & for me, they became standard, because most of those 'inns' offer good value for a low price. I prefer Home Inn, but 7-Days Inn & Super8 are similar. Hanting was a bit too expensive for me in recent years.

Diesmal übernachteten wir in einem Hanting Express oder Hanting Inn. Das war das erste Mal (glaube ich), daß ich in einem derartigen Inn war. Vor 2008 hatte ich solche Hotels noch nirgends gesehen. Seitdem haben sie sich aber enorm verbreitet. Für mich wurden sie zum Standard, da sie in der Regel ein gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis bieten. Ich bevorzuge Home Inn, aber 7-Days Inn & Super8 sind ähnlich. Hanting war mir in den letzten Jahren immer zu teuer.

Above you probably see the Ruan Gong Islet, byname "submerged in greenery".	Oben sieht man wahrscheinlich die Insel Ruan Gong, die als Beinamen 'von Grünzeug überflutet' führt.

& here's the Leifeng Pagoda again. Would be a really nice picture with the right light & weather.	& hier ist nochmal die Leifeng-Pagode. Mit dem richtigen Licht & Wetter wäre das ein tolles Bild.

That should be the Huxin Pavilion on another islet whose name I didn't find.	Hierbei handelt es sich wohl um den Huxin-Pavillon auf einer Insel mir unbekannten Namens.

Quite some traffic on the lake, despite the smog.	Auf dem See selber war so einiges los, trotz des Smogs.

& another nice view of the City God Pavilion.	& noch ein hübscher Anblick des Stadtgottpavillons.

Finally, something I hadn't covered in my previous post: a ding. Dings are ancient cauldrons, most often three-legged, originally used for cooking. They were also important for use in various religious rituals. Which is probably yet more proof of how significant food has always been for the Chinese.	Zum Schluß noch etwas, was im letzten Beitrag nicht vorkam: ein Ding. Der Ding war ursprünglich ein Kochtopf auf drei (seltener 4) Beinen, der dann für diverse religiöse Rituale wichtig wurde. Was wahrscheinlich wieder mal zeigt, wie wichtig Essen schon immer für Chinesen war.

Then there was the reclining laughing Buddha from the title photo. More interesting than the fat Buddha are the little figures climbing over it. If you look closely you will notice a major surprise:	Dann war da noch der liegende, lachende Buddha vom Titelbild. Interessanter als der fette Buddha sind die kleinen Figuren, die auf ihm klettern. Wer genau hinsieht, entdeckt eine gewaltige Überraschung:

This proves that Belgium is an ancient province of China & Manneken Pis has been Chinese since ancient times!	Das beweist, daß Belgien nur eine alte Provinz Chinas ist & Manneken Pis seit ewigen Zeiten chinesisch ist.
