Hello Steemers..
I know this is a bit different from my normal.. Painting and drawing posts..
Stick with me though.. I will eventually turn back to drawing and painting! I promise!..
Earlier this week I got challenged by @senorcoconut to participate in the '7day black&white photo challenge'.
The good photographer I am went through my collection of photo's I once took and picked out the pretty ones.
Last year when I turned 30 I got as a present from my GF & friends a beautiful DSLR camera from Nikon.
I wanted one so I could take reference shots for my work. So every now and then I take it with me and I go to try and find places that I think are interesting so I can take some photos that I can later use in my work or to learn from.
But every now and then I find a place/opportunity so cool I just have to sort of try and be artsy about it.. I find myself in a story or feeling in my head and I want to create cool shots that I would have in a movie or game if i was directing!
Last time this happened i was visiting a friend of mine in Rotterdam.
Earlier that day I went to the Zoo to draw animals (bad idea in December..) but also took my camera so in i case i couldnt draw i could atleast make some reference shots.. Later on I chilled at this birthday and as time passed on it started to get more foggy outside..
At around 11 at night it was so thick you could barely see a thing.
He lives next to the docks and looked out on this old cruiseship. One and One makes two.. I didnt want to miss the opportunity since the lights were on on the ship and it just gave this almost horror vibe from outside. I made my way to ship, talked to some people (it is also a restaurant.) and with a little bribing I was allowed onto the ship for 30/45 mins.
That is when I took the following photos.
It was cold, wet and foggy.. The wind was quite strong and it gave this sort of chill everytime the wind passed.. In my mind this was some abandoned ship.. but for some weird reason you would have this strange feeling it maybe isnt..
You call 'hello?' .. but not too loud as you aren't quite sure you want anyone.. anything to hear you..
The ship uncomfortably swings from side to side.. you keep wanting to tilt your head in the opposite direction so you keep leveled..
The lights are on.. There must be someone around here right?.. The cord of lights dances in the wind.. you hear all sort of things move.. the chains, the lifeboats.. the shrinking and extracting of the wooden floors.. the water hitting the side of the boat.. there's more noise but you just can't seem to know where it's coming from or what it is.. You feel anxious wanting to leave.. Whatever it is.. you start to feel quite certain you don't want to know who or what it is!
The front of the ship.. large windows look out towards the horizon.. yet in this weather.. nothing is seen or discovered.
You slow down hoping to silence your footsteps enough so no one knows you are here.. Time to leave!
And so was my time to leave the ship, go back to the birthday party and have another beer! :D
Hope you enjoyed reading this one!
Thank you so much!
Cheers
