Some Birds/Algunas Aves

These are some pictures I took a few months ago in a field trip of the subject Ornithology, I will never forget this experience which I learned a lot.

Spanish: Estas son algunas fotos que tome hace ya unos meses atrás en una salida de campo de la asignatura Ornitología, jamás olvidaré esta experiencia de la cual aprendí mucho.

At the start we took a look at the different types of birds we could find in the Araya Peninsula, more specifically in Guayacán and Chacopata, Sucre state-Venezuela. And several techniques were used, such as observation through binoculars, songs and even some fog traps were mounted to capture some specimens.

Spanish: En la salida nos dedicamos a observar los diversos tipos de aves que podíamos encontrar en la Península de Araya, más especificamente en Guayacán y Chacopata, estado Sucre-Venezuela. Y se utilizaron diversas técnicas como la observación mediante binoculares, los cantos e incluso se montaron algunas trampas de niebla para capturar algunos ejemplares.

Certainly do not worry, no birds were damaged, mistreated or died during this process because they were handled with excessive care and enough caution so that this did not happen, in addition all the birds captured, after being weighed, measured and evaluated were released again.

Spanish: Por cierto no se preocupen, ningún ave fue dañada, maltratada o se murió durante este proceso ya que se manipularon con excesivo cuidado y bastante precaución para que esto no pasara, además todas las aves capturadas, luego de ser pesadas, medidas y evaluadas fueron liberadas nuevamente.

Paraulata (Mimus gilvus) "Que llena de canto la sabana" "That fills the savannah with singing".

The hummingbird that kisses the for in the morning and the paraulata that full of singing the savannah, makes reference to a song of the folklore of my country Venezuela, being those phrases part of the song Toy contented interpreted by Mario Suárez, letter written by Billo Frómera and music by Juan Vicente Torrealba. I emphasize the fact that Frómera alludes in those phrases that yes the hummingbird kisses the flower in the morning, to feed itself and include helping in the pollination and also eliminating possible parasites that attack the plant through its flower. And the clear paraulata that fills the savannah with singing, since by singing it is one of the most difficult birds to identify since it has more than 15 different songs. That is why I am proud that in so few words in this song is said so much.

Spanish: El colibrí que besa la for por la mañana y la paraulata que llena de canto la sabana, hace referencia a una canción del folklore de mi país Venezuela, siendo esas frases parte de la canción Toy contento interpretada por Mario Suárez, letra escrita por Billo Frómera y música por Juan Vicente Torrealba. Destaco el hecho de que Frómera alude en esas frases que sí el colibrí besa la flor por la mañana, para alimentarse e incluo ayudar en la polinización y además elimimar posibles parásitos que ataquen a la planta mediante su flor. Y la paraulata claro que llena de canto a la sabana ya que mediante cantos es una de las aves más difíciles de identificar ya que posee más de 15 cantos diferentes. Es por esto que me enorgullezco que en tan pocas palabras en esta canción se diga tanto.

It is important to mention that the study of wildlife in general helps us to know how affected is the ecosystem and the animals that live in it, birds are fabulous bioindicators of the health of an ecosystem, finally I want to note that it is important know to be able to protect, so we know and protect our fauna and flora.

Spanish: Es importante mencionar que el estudio de la fauna silvestre en general nos ayuda a conocer que tan afectado se encuentra el ecosistema y los animales que en este habitan, las aves son fabulosos bioindicadores de la salud de un ecosistema, por último quiero acotar que es importante conocer para poder proteger, así que conozcamos y protejamos nuestra fauna y flora.
