I bought a new Canon 6D with my Steemit rewards and took it to a local park for a test run.
If you missed my last post about purchasing this camera, you can read it here: I Just Bought a New Camera...By Blogging on Steemit!
All of the images in this post are straight out of the Canon 6D with no edits. I used the 24-105mm IS STM lens and different focal lengths and shooting modes, but mostly full-auto and landscape settings that are programmed into the camera. No filters were used and there was a good mix of sun and clouds.
These were the results...
Do you see the woodpecker?
Back at home, the little feline was taking a bath.
I must have gotten too close...
And then she was done.
So far, things are looking pretty good. I'll test some of the aperture, portrait, and night-time modes soon and share some of my results in future posts. What do you think of these shots? If you've seen my prior work in A Walk in the Park or Gone Fishing, how do these compare to those images?
I welcome any feedback, good or bad. Thanks for stopping by!
stunning photos, great job! but considering my photography skills are bad, don't take my opinion to seriously :) anything steem-backed comes out pretty great, eh?
Yeah, it sure does! Thanks for the comment!
I love the cat pics the most!
Really great shots! And so awesome to be able to buy with Steem rewards. The two cloud shots are my favorite.

Ouch... thanks randowhale. hahaha
do you know that the new 6d is coming out in a few weeks?!
I would return the cam and wait for the next version. You are buying tech that is a generation behind at not a proper discount.

Yeah, the 6D Mark II won't be released here until mid-August, but I wanted a good camera now. I'm taking several trips in the next two months and I wanted to have it with me. As far as I'm concerned, the camera works great, the pictures look great, and any improvements in quality will be minimal or just won't matter much for my personal needs.
Besides...I can always upgrade down the road!
Great pictures.. Im currently thinking of investing in a nikon a5. I have a friend of mine using it, he is an internstional photographer from india and its freaking amazing..
Cheers for the great camera and much lovele as always..
Goldie
Great looking photo's! And congrats with your new camera. I've been browsing through your Other Posts with photo's and you've really made some Nice ones. I'll be looking forward to your travel photo's in the next coming months.
Wow @ats-david. You've inspired me by this post! Looks like the new camera is working wonders! You can find art from this post included in my post here.
I write nothing about art, but have a major appreciation for artists and the fact that they don't make enough to live on usually or struggle. I hope my contribution can help you get more traffic!
Feel free to tag other artists in my post along with the hashtag #SteemianArtist and I will start including some more of your and their work :)
Steem-power, the best sustainable energy source for any device.
Great shots!
Thanks! Steem-powered is the only way to live right now! Amirite?
Well when we get to the point of Steem-powered cars, Steem-powered homes, Steem-powered everything.... <3
A Steem-powered car is next on the list! Stay tuned for that post...coming by the end of summer, perhaps.
really lovely photos - my wife, @countrygirl, is a photographer, and I'm not technically expert but I can appreciate art when I see it. I love the delicate sense that you captured in the flower pics, and I have a tabby Muse Cat, so I know how exasperating working with feline demigods can be :)
some very good quality work. 6 skateboards out of 10
Aww...only 6? I need to do better next time...
It's essentially the same as 4.5 ice cream cones out of 5.
Hmm...I think I like the 4.5 ice cream cones better. That's like, 90% good!
Beautiful photos! glad you made the right choice with Canon 6D ...
Yes! I am also glad with the choice!
Great shots! I'm waiting for some payouts to clear so I can buy myself a new camera too, mostly all done with STEEM rewards. Upvoted and followed! Looking forward to see more shots from your new camera in the future :)
Congrats with ur new camera.
On the nature photos you can clearly tell the quality and level of detail much higher than the iPhone 6 can ever capture.
Feel free to post many more great photos.
Glad you're enjoying your new camera. As you become more accustomed to it, it'll become an extension of your eyes : )
Oh, good...my eyes need to learn to focus better. And zoom. And filter out ugly backgrounds and stuff. Looking forward to that!
It'll be second nature to you in no time. I don't normally plug my own posts like this, but check out some of my ongoing work if you're stuck for ideas. I'll be following your journey as a photographer with interest : )
phenomenal photos man!
That dolphin cut out shot is sick, the camera is crisp.
Yeah, I was just going to take a picture of the cut-out, then I was like, "Hey, wait a minute! Let me focus on that background!"

Awesome quality pics @ats-david! Congrats on the new camera:)
Thank you!
This is the sort of thing I'm hoping to work towards. Are you looking to keep going and pick up a full pro rig with your earnings? I have a semi-pro setup now, but I'm always looking for lighter and better so I can bring everything with me when I travel.
I don't think I'll be going pro any time soon, but I will certainly get a lot of pro-like use out of this. I have several trips lined up for this summer and plan on having this with me for all of them.
wagh, I'm no pro either, but I do unhealthily lust over 'pro' gear. I look forward to seeing what you turn out!
Where are you going?
I think we're going to see beautiful pictures. Enjoy your new toy greetings from Belgium
The dolphin cut out in the wood is awesome. That is indeed a good camera.
Yes, I see the woodpecker! You literally caught him in the act of pecking the wood.
Yes, and I also saw the pieces of bark falling to the ground, which tipped me off in the first place. He was quite a little pecker!
Ah, yes. Peckerwood.
Hermosas imágenes!. Me encantó ver ... allí primavera (spring) , aquí otoño. Todo en flor. Congratulations.
Congrats on the new camera and beautiful photo's!
The Steem rewards really make the photo's pop. haha =)
Really class work ... great flowers ... the cat is the hammer, I can recognize every hair of the coat ... thank you for sharing ... and you a nice evening and good night with sweet dreams my friend.
The post will immediately decorate my wall :)
beautiful shots indeed @ats-david ! this camera and lens has incredible detail !! I have just lost my beloved fish eye canon mini x !! so sad, but this camera would be a new way and style !! I will check it out ! )
This shows that there is nothing to compare with steem power!!!! soon steem power will help us to take over social media...great success and beautiful pictures, keep it up and keep powering up!!!
Wow man, amazing. That would be my goal, to be able to buy a better camera from Steem reward. I hope one day I can manage to do this. Nice photos, keep up the good work. I am following you.
The result is great (and the cat really beautiful) @ats-david .I now use a Nikon but Canon was my first camera but I think the brightness of Canaon is really unique..
@ats-david not a bad effort at all. I think the colours from the Canon came out well. Did you shot these in RAW or Jpeg?
I knew I forgot to mention something in the post! These were all large jpeg.
Thanks for asking!
Ah awesome! Nothing wrong with the quality at all.
Very nice series.
Thanks!
Man! Glad to see your first shots with this new little toy you got thanks to this amazing platform! Seems like someone likes macro and cats pics :D
Wish you a great Monday ( yeah I know its the most hated day for an army out there)
Cheers!
WOW!! That thing takes nice photos. Seeing this, there is a part of me that wants a nice camera, and then there's a part of me that's like, dang, then I'll have to carry it around with me everywhere. I hate carrying things!!! I need a helper to just follow me around with the camera, I don't want to carry that shit.
Silly me...anyway, thanks for the upvote on my boiling river in yellowstone post David! That got me all excited
Btw, whats the cats name? SHE'S ADORABLE!!! and has a good glare =) thats hot
Nice one man, looking forward to the night time shots.
Those photos are awesome right off of the camera! I am going to go check the older work that you mentioned, since I only just now stumbled across your blog.
I my self am working to earn enough Steem rewards to buy a new camera, I have been wanting to go full frame for a long time and just could not justify the price, but I have been dreaming of a pretty new Nikon D750. You're post gives me hope, that if I am good enough, post enough, and doggone it, people like my photos, I too can buy my dream camera.
Cheers,
@kellyjanderson
Beautiful pictures! Hope we get to see more soon :-)

The camera and the eye are both good. Also the cat she knows is a cutie :)
Yeah, I think she knows it too. My wife also spoils her and they're inseparable. A good life for that little one.
Beautiful
