You can never have enough cookie recipes. And if you're looking for chocolate, you're in the right place. Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies are just what you need if you want a simple but delectable chocolate fix. You could go with simply chocolate, but chocolate chocolate can only be better, right?

I have been making these Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies for years...and I mean YEARS. I think it's been almost 20 years since I made my first batch, and like the Classic Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe, this is a favorite. It is another one of my go-to recipes for a simple classic cookie, crispy edges, chewy on the inside.

Like the Classic Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe, the ingredients are basic...flour, sugar, eggs, chocolate chips, cocoa, etc. Again, this cookie will not win the healthy cookie award, but it is a nice treat once in a while. Everything in moderation! And they make awesome gifts...my friends LOVE to receive these cookies. I make them every Christmas to give away in cheerful cookie bundles.

I combine the Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies with the Classic Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies for a very simple cookie combination. It's a small token, but how can this not make you happy? I'm happy just putting these little bags together!

This cookie dough keeps well for a few days in the refrigerator, and you can also freeze it! Freeze the dough in a zip top bag, or form individual cookie dough balls, freeze individually on a pan, then store all the dough balls in a zip top bag. Make this cookie dough ahead of time and freeze it for your Christmas baking so you're not rushing! Then you can just bake as few or as many cookies as you want. Bake a pan's worth for unexpected guests or to take to a friend's house. Or bake just a couple for yourself!

So if you're in the mood for cookies, and you need a good chocolate fix, I think you need to make these Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies. And remember, no one will complain if you share!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies

The perfect cookie when you need that chocolate fix.

Makes about 30 cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup Butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups unsifted flour
2/3 cup cocoa
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method:

  1. Preheat oven 350 deg F (180 C).
  2. In mixing bowl, cream together butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  3. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Add to creamed mixture.
  4. Stir in chocolate chips.
  5. Chill dough until firm, then drop by spoonful onto parchment-lined cookie sheet.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes.
  7. Let cool slightly on pan before transferring to foil sheet to cool completely.

Notes:

Customize it for you! For a holiday twist, use mint chocolate chips in place of regular chocolate chips. Try dark chocolate chips for a more sophisticated chocolate flavor. White chocolate chips will give the cookies a fancier look and slightly sweeter flavor. Add another element of chocolate and drizzle a chocolate glaze over the cooled cookies. If you like nuts in your cookies, add some 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts to the cookie batter before baking.
