After years and years of working in the Pacific Northwest operating whale watching tours and attempting to get an Orca breach shot it finally happened in 2017!!
The little trick when it comes to breach shots of orca is that if they breach once there is a very good chance they might do it another two or three times after their initial breach. So if you only see them breach then pull out the camera and just hope they do it again. Sometimes they don't but then if they do you get a picture that looks like something like this
Thanks for reading and all the support, Steemit!!

Whoa! Do they not do it that often? Thanks can't believe you've been editing years to get a shot like that. It was worth it, it's wheezing! (I could have read wrong though... It's like 5 hours past my bedtime so I'm a lil' sleepy lol)
They do breach quite often but its very very unpredictable when and where they will do it. its more luck than skill at the end of the day with those shots. I have been driving tours for years and finally got this shot. Thanks!!
I'm glad you got it!!! It must feel so good... Like winning the lottery!
still smiling today when I look at it. better than the lottery!
That actually makes me smile
my work is done then
Other people's happiness is contagious
What an amazingly timed photo!!! Thats such an awesome experience to get to watch!
just a little bit of luck with this shot - absolutely!!
Amazing shots. Orcas are amazing creatures.
cheers! that they are! Definitely one of my favourite animals to encounter from around the world
Your photos are absolutely stunning. I envy sometimes about your touch with nature. But we can understand it better through your photos 👌
thanks a heap, mate! Greatly appreciate it.
Your description of waiting for the orca to come back up takes me back to when I was trying to anticipate which flower the hummingbirds might go to next with my camera while shooting them in Colombia. :) Great shots here. And a more impressive tuxedo than even a penguin's!
I understand what you mean. Predicting how a wildlife animal is going to move is a key feature of grabbing that shot. Especially if they move as fast as a hummingbird.
Beautiful wild life post I like your this post and I follow u
Thanks! I'll do my best to keep them coming
Truly remarkable photo's.. I'm sure it was worth the waiting for this shot. Wow
120% absolutely. The problem is that I want to get another like it... hopefully, it won't take as long as this one did
I hope not either... Good luck!!! I'll be waiting for more
Perfect timing! I'll be whale watching this summer in Alaska :)
