These little guys don't just randomly sit in an area and call it a nest. They do actually build their nests from small stones that they constantly search for around the breeding colony. They will find a stone/small rock or simply steal it from their neighbour when they aren't looking. It appears that small stones are used for more than just building nests, as they typically will place one in front of another in a flirting manner.

Where did you take such an up close picture of the penguins?
This shot I was on Deception Island, which is in the South Shetland Island group on the Antarctic Peninsula. If you click on this link it will show you the exact area I was at that time: http://steemitworldmap.com?post=some-cuteness-to-start-the-weekend
Hola @thomasjmitchell
Esta es una especie pequeña y gordita. Son demasiado bellos. La línea negra que va de oreja a oreja es la que le da origen a su nombre.
Mide entre 65 y 70 centímetros de largo y su peso varía entre 3 y 6 Kg.
Saludos y Gracias
Penguin chicks are so cute. Great post! Following you now
Hahaha! I guess penguins will have a hard time making affairs without getting caught.
