Norway'24 #19 - Why This Beach is my Favorite?

in #photofeed19 days ago

Hi Friends!

If You haven't see and read the first part of this post - take a look at the link below - I described the place and the situation there!

As the time passes I was doing my best to catch all the most interesting compositions, trying to use available light and create something beautiful :).

The geological formations on the beach are really amazing, the water, wind and earth erosion created really unique rock formations and the original look of this shoreline.

One of the most famous spot is called The Eye Of The North or even more often - The Dragon's Eye... but also known as The Eye of Uttakleiv...

It is a small sea pond on the flat rock, filled up with crystal clear water which is "changed" during every high tide.
On the bottom of the pond we can find a round stone which in fact was the creator of this hole - during many, many years, moved by water and incoming tides, it was slowly made the hole bigger and bigger and in the same time, it stayed in the same place - interesting how it is possible that a single stone can do such things on a flat rocky surface!

In my opinion the stone we can see now is not the same stone which dig up this hole many many years ago - but , who knows :).

Right now I hop nobody will have this stupid idea to remove it from the spot - it would be a really great loss for everyone and a truly horrible crime on nature and local tourism.

And now just imagine the same place, with all these amazing subjects to photograph, in a different time of the day - sunrise, sunset... different seasons, different weather conditions - sun, rain, snow, during the night time, with Aurora Borealis reflecions on the water and snowy peaks of the mountains...

In every year, every time of the day, such unique places will have the ability to "produce" great photographs.

That is why this place is one of my very best on Lofoten archipelago and I have to visit this beach every time I am on Lofoten.

The bedrock there looks like a freshly made cake - it is has such a plastic surface and what is the most beautiful, all the holes are filled with water and covered by colorful algae.

From my observations - these algae are changing theis colour during the year so they have a different look at summertime and different one in winter.
That is why I love to visit the place in different seasons watching how the colours are changing.
So - the place is not just a static landscape view - it is changing, it has a different compositions to offer every time I am there!

After all of these - I hope You understand WHY IT IS MY FAVORITE BEACH? :)
Even after 5 visits I still had a feeling that this was not just a photo session but also an exploration and discovering new stuff :).
