I know exactly what you mean. Since I take pictures, I notice a lot of nice details no matter where I'm traveling. I never looked at it that closely before...
The time at home when you browse through the photos is also great, because it is reminiscent of the experience. Sometimes I even get goose bumps when I look through the pictures at home. :-)
