The stories of the giant ones // A Post Story

She sat by the side of the river, warming herself by the fire. The mountains were showing signs of unleashing its power, and she didn't want to be caught out in the open. She'd had allowed herself a short break before pressing on to the trappers cabin. She had met him in town a few days ago, and he had kindly offered her a place to stay on her way through the valley to her new home.

Trappers usually stuck together...as long as you didn't take from their 'territory'.

She pushed some snow over her fire, and gathered her meager belongings. As she turned to continue her walk, she heard the rushed sound of splashing footsteps.

"Run!" A voice shouted in the distance. "It's coming!"

"What's coming?" She thought as she strained to see where the voice had come from.

She never expected to see what she saw next. Above the tree tops the head of the largest lizard she had ever seen crashed through the forest. As it cleared the edge of the trees she could see its true size. Taller than a church and as wide as one too.

She had heard the stories of the giant ones, but they were supposed to be long gone.

Her feet felt frozen to the ground.

"Run." The voice said.

She turned to face a young man, who looked at her with fear in his eyes.

"Run!"
