Windswept Ness Lake

in #photofeed6 years ago (edited)

A shot on a windblown Ness lake from two weeks ago. I think this has to be the coldest photo shoot I have ever done; it got down to -36C (-33F) and with wind-chill it was below -45C (-49F). The wind picked up significantly when I was out there and I had to abandon the shoot and snowshoe home at about 1 AM. Trudging back alone the wind seemed to be sandblasting my face, the 500m seemed to feel more like 2km, and quite disconcertingly my eyelids started freezing shut at the edges every time I blinked. A little too cold for this Australian. Let’s just say I was glad to get back to our warm house.

That is crazy cold and you were lucky it wasn't further to walk. We are lucky to get to see your work from all your hardships and don't realize what you go through to get them.

Hi. I have never had a problem with my Canon SLR system in the cold; it works just fine.

What an amazing view.

It's an amazing shot! You were pretty game to be out there to begin with, I would have been hiding inside for pretty much the entirety of winter XD

Thanks. It is my 3rd winter up here so you get used to the cold but this was something else.

Intrepid indeed! What an amazing shot! I'm glad you made it back safely.

Thank you. It was something I won't forget any time soon

It was definitely worth struggling with this cruel, huge frost. I know what it's like to take pictures in the cold, not once, but never so strong. However, it was enough cold to not feel the fingers of your hands. Thank you very much for your dedication and sharing this beautiful view.

Thanks. Appreciate the detailed comment. There is something crisp about shots in the cold. The air always seems clearer and there is no dust.

That's right, come on like there's a lot of air humidity and a biting cold, it's like fog.

ahh... this is a amazing photo... hope to see more about that... which Cam did you use? wishes from Thailand
