Hi guys, today I have this shot of a Cape batis, this was the first time I got a glimpse of this beautiful tiny bird!
I spotted this female at my holiday accommodation near the town of Roberston in South Africa, if you would like some more info on the place I went I will give you the details in the chat below.
This photo was shot on my Nikon D500 with the Nikon 200-500mm lens
Hope you like it an have a good one!

Hello, a very lovely photo, I did not know this species, the birds fascinate me for the freedom they represent. I congratulate you on your good art, you managed to capture it in its habitat. my salutations and respect

Hi @callierhino. I totally agree with the curator of Curie about the wonderfulness of this photograph. Congratulations on the Curie vote.
I have immense curiosity: how do you know that the bird is female?
Thanks @macybetancourt I really appreciate that! I know it is a female because I use a bird book that shows the difference, for this specific species you look at the throat area, the male will have a darker band where the female has a lighter band.
Thanks for answering. In birds I recognize the male because it has a more colorful plumage than the female and the darker color at the peak (as you say). I can also know which is the female because she is bigger. But as there is only one bird in the picture, I can't tell. Regards
No problem, I love helping people identify birds, it gives me great joy, if you ever struggle to identify a bird, just send me a picture and I will do my best to help you!
Great focus and perfect exposure. The bird really comes in front of the photo and it's the first thing that you see when you look at it :)
I have always admired people who were able to tell names of the birds :)
Thanks @delishtreats I think it becomes an obsession after a while where you need to know what birds are in your area and then to go out and photograph each and every one of them, even the smallest brownest most common bird right up to the rarest bird
I think that photographing birds requires a great job.
Patience and dedication.
I've never managed to do it well, that's why I admire who does.
Congrats on a Curie vote!
