Trying a different camera

in #photocircle7 years ago

I recently borrowed a Nikon D5500 to try out. Now I have a problem... I want a new camera. No not the D5500. But after using the d5500 I really want a tilty screen. Jeez a tilty screen would be nice.

As far as the D5500 goes I thought it was okay. Other than the tilt and touch screen I didn't care for it much. I wasn't used to the button layout and the frame rate of the D5500 was painfully slow to me.

Or at least this is what I keep telling myself because I really don't need to spend money on camera equipment right now. Also I feel that I am stuck with indecision because I know that I should be buying lenses instead.

Anyways about the images I used the Nikon with one of those super zoom lenzes, I think it was a Tamron 16-300. I started off by the river after I got off work. The water level was up and covering the path that I usually take but there was a heron on the bank. I didn't stick around long after the heron flew off.

Later on I went to a nearby lake and once I seen the ducklings I had to get closer. I was in a hurry because the light was fading and tripped over some rocks.

It scared the crap out of me because I really didn't want to buy the Nikon at that point. That is the second time I have fallen in that area. Maybe from now on I should take the stairs down to the side of the river.

How beautiful these photos!
My Olympus has a tilt screen and I must say that it is very useful and very comfortable.
I often do not use the viewfinder, I click on the screen the point of focus and shot.
I can be very discreet and I can often capture very nice spontaneous photos.

Also I am deciding which camera to take alongside my current Olympus.
I am choosing between the Olympus em1 mark ii and the Panasonic G9.

Both of those cameras are nice. Don't think you could go wrong with either which probably makes the decision even harder.

The touch focus would be a nice feature to have as well.

Hey man, having a camera with a flip touchscreen is amazing! Once you try it, there's no going back :)

Yeah that spoiled me. The touch screen was nice too but not as big of a deal.

It made me really want a new camera.

Oh man, I see I posted a comment without mentioning your bird photos... I was falling asleep when writing it, so please forgive me 😁They are wonderful, and the ducklings are very cute.

Another thing that can spoil you is an electronic viewfinder :)

Haha, don't worry about it but thanks for the compliment. I have done something similar to that before while wanting to get a comment out but also wanting to go to sleep.

I looked through an evf at the store a while back and I liked it. All the features like that are very tempting. Another thing that got me wanting WiFi is how you were talking about transferring photos to your phone during your trip.

I have always bought my cameras used and after newer models have been out for a while. Now I am wanting something new.

Gear lust is a issue for me, I might have to sell some stuff around the house so I can upgrade.

All these features are dope man, but you should think carefully before buying a new camera. I can probably live without the Wi-Fi connectivity :) What camera do you have now? I can't remember if I asked you :) I do remember that you have a OnePlus tho 😁

I have the canon 7d and there is nothing wrong with it. The camera is built like a tank and I am not really looking to replace it. Maybe eventually augment it with something smaller and lighter.

I just see some of the things like a tilt screen and think how useful that would be. Usually i think of this while I am on the ground trying to see the back lcd.

But as far as the wifi goes I could see it being not as useful as it seems at first.

The flying one is my favorite among all this great photos :) the bird looks snappy and you did a good job focusing on it.
That's the amazing thing about the zoom lens it gives you a range of options to capture.
Congrats on these amazing shots buddy :)

thanks buddy.

Great shots! Long zooms are definitely a lot of fun to play with, looks like that Tamron/Nikon combo is working well for you! :)

Thanks for the compliment :)

I did enjoy playing around with it.
