The nature area called: The Slufter. You can see a lighthouse, which is located at the far north of the island. You have to look real close though to see it ;)
When you live in the small country of the Netherlands, there are so many urbanized areas that you quickly forget that we have some nice nature as well. One of those places is on the island of Texel. Here we have beaches, small villages and forests. It is so amazingly peaceful over there, that it almost feels like you’re not in the Netherlands anymore. It takes about 40 minutes to cross the Wadden Sea with the ferry from Den Helder to Texel. My boyfriend and I went there this summer, and I would like to share a few photos of the island with you!
Seagull photographed from the ferry. If you're not careful, they pick your lunch from out of your hands :(
Once you arrive, the island is much bigger than you would expect an island in the Netherlands to be. It has multiple villages, and many, many sheep farms. Immediately, you get the holiday feels. ;)
During my trip to Texel, my boyfriend and I visited my sister and her boyfriend, who were camping over there. We only went for a single day, but it felt like more than just a day trip.
There is a special place along the coast of the island called the Slufter, which gets submerged during high tide, but is a nice open field during low tide. When it was low tide, we walked into the field and I was able to shoot some pictures.
You can see the sea from here!
Some water flowing through the field
We walked all the way to the beach to see the sea. I never saw a flower on the beach before, so I photographed this nice purple plant on the beach.
After the visit to this nature area, we decided to visit the village of Den Burg. A small village at the center of the island, which has a nice and cozy feel.
The village of Den Burg
We ended the day visiting the beaches at the lower part of the island, before returning to the mainland with the ferry.
Overall, it was a wonderful day, and I would love to visit the island again! The weather could have been nicer (it rains so often in the Netherlands :(, and we had a little rain this day as well), but it is a great island to be at!
Nice place...
It is! :)
Good
Thanks!
