Also, even if it was open-source, it would have not been a guarantee that the compiled program he sent you was safe. You'd have to verify the integrity of the program's code and compile it on your own just to be sure.

People can be so mean, they won't work hard to reap the fruits of their labour but would prefer to steal someone's toil!
Even in my own group, we are just hearing different sad stories, the last was someone's 132 SBD that was transfered without trace.
