Dreams of Peace

I dream of a world where if a leader of any group anywhere were to suggest his group go to war with another group his subjects would immediately depose him, or leave. They would send him the following message.
“You yourself may have made an enemy of this other group, but we have not. If you cannot negotiate a peaceful solution to the differences between them and you then you are not fit for this leadership position, and we will start the process of finding a new leader. All over the world, if an individual deliberately kills, or arranges to be killed, another individual then he will be prosecuted for murder. War is murder on a large scale. We do not give you the authority as our leader to do as a group what is considered abhorrent for individuals.”

I dream of a world where if a warrior group were to attack another group the later would refuse to escalate to war. They would send the following message to the leaders of the warrior group.
“You may think that you will gain some benefit by attacking us, but you are mistaken. We have no army so we have no means of repelling your army with force, but we can fight them with our absolute knowing that peaceful negotiation is always far superior to war. You may have convinced the people in your army that they would benefit by invading our space, but if that happened it would expose them to our knowing of the value of peace. We would work continuously to educate them of this fact and they would eventually understand the error of your order to invade our space, and depose you.”

I dream of a world where if any business leader were to suggest that his business start participating in anything to do with warfare (such as arms manufacture) his employees would immediately send him the following message.
“You may think that your business would benefit by getting into the warfare business, but you are mistaken. We all have the moral integrity to resign our jobs before agreeing to get involved in any way in any warfare. If you persist with your suggestion we will seek to replace you as our leader. If we fail we will leave this business and you will end up with nothing but a shell”.

I dream of a world where if any individual were to suggest that warfare was a possible option his audience would immediately disagree.
Thankfully there are few places left in the world where it is considered acceptable for 2 individuals to settle their differences with violence. Therefore his audience would explain that there is no logical reason a group leader should be given the power to authorise on a group scale what is considered wrong at the individual level. They would explain to him that whoever convinced him that one group was the enemy of another was mistaken. Two groups can have differences of opinion just as individuals do, but just because they are a group does not give them a right to use violence. They would know that the impulse to violence comes from fear so they would seek to reassure him that there was no need to fear this other group. If his audience fail to convince him of their arguments they would shun him until he changes his mind.

I dream of a world where all children are taught the law of attraction. This powerful all pervasive law says that if we think about anything enough it will eventually come to us. ie. if we worry long enough about something, like war, it will happen. If we could all learn to turn our attention away from what we do not like and onto what we want to happen there would be a huge decrease of suffering. I invite you to join me in dreaming of peace.
