Throughout history hope has been the greatest, most destructive weapon in the hands of every
"savior," con artist, god, and politician. Hope is the fuel that oppression runs on, and it is one of
the most effective, if not the only, method of prolonging human suffering.
People are always saying shit like, "don't lose hope," or, "there's always hope," and other crap like that, but is having
hope really a good thing?
Well, I don't think so, and I will explain why.
Do you ever wonder why soldiers fall captive in battle? They have guns, and the ability to defend themselves, but doing so
could potentially get them killed. Instead, they surrender on the hope that they will live, and they suffer ALL kinds of
torture, humiliation, and abuse at the hands of their captors, often dying under torture or killing themselves
shortly after they're released.
If insanity means doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, then hope is the
epitome of insanity.
Take voting for example, every four years or so people head to the polls with the hope
of electing "the right person" who's going to bring "change" and save them from the next crisis and fix this or that
so they can live happily ever after. When they (the candidate) crush their dreams and make things worse
than they used to be, what's everyone's answer? "Vote harder next time." Hope is a drug designed to make sure you
keep falling in the same mistakes and make a fool out of yourself, and there's an endless supply of it.
Karl Marx once wrote, "religion is the opium of the masses," but in reality, it's hope.
Hope is the real opium of the masses, hope is a pacifying, paralyzing force that keeps us from taking action.
It may help us survive during hard times, sure, but isn't that just another horrible crime committed by hope?
Isn't it exactly like treating a torture victim only to keep them alive enough so they could be tortured some more?
Hope is, in its truest form, a tool of aggression that's been used against us by every tyrant, con artist, and every god,. In fact, all the tyrants and con artists and gods are merely a by-product of hope. They are salesmen of an already existing product, with the highest of all demand.
Hope is the dictator that we dare not oppose, question, or attempt to overthrow or assassinate.
Hope is the first step towards suffering and disappointment.
