I started writing and haven't stopped

I don't know what's going on in my head these days. A few days ago I started writing this idea about art, about transcendence and what have you,and I'm five pages in and it feels like I'm still quite green.

It would be awesome if this thing germinates into some sort of short book. But I know better than to good too excited, since I have a few novels I never finished among the corpses of my creative mind.

All that being said, life is good, regardless of it all. I would have imagine the power outages to bother me a lot more, but turns out it's actually helping my family bond, which is a welcomed change.

We all gather around my place, since I'm the only house with internet and electricity (a few bulbs, but light nonetheless). Since these little gatherings are excellent for excuses to grill things, my diet has also improved considerably.

I've not eating a single piece of bread or rice for over a month, and lean meat is my main source of protein these days. I'm losing weight, I'm feeling better, and the best part, I don't feel hunger like I used to prior to this change.

Why am I sharing all this? I don't really know. But, since this is my blog and I pretty much write whatever I feel like writing, the why not wins the day, it seems.

Because I love hearing from other people, i'll finish this poorly guided blog entry with a question.

In your mind, what makes art valuable? And, please, don't say the market. The market also buys Brito and puts price tags on a banana duck taped to a wall.

Yeah... think it through... I'm dying to know.

I find writing leads to me discovering what's in my head, and it sounds like that's what's happening to you as well. Your location is apparently good for your circumstances, which I am encouraged to read. Nice a carnivore diet agrees with you, is available, and turns out to be a product of the failure of government to keep the powerlines delivering, at least in the short term. Let's hope that turns out to be more sustainable than government competence.

As to what makes art valuable, it is it's ability to touch people where they lack such affect. You'll have to define value as something besides money to keep the market out of the discussion.

Thanks!
