Hi everyone,
It is my first post here. Hopefully not the last one :)
When someone talks about anarchism, the usual perception is as though it is all about rage, protest, destruction, and such. This is not anarchism, though. In fact, such steps might form a part of anarchism but a part only and far from being substantial.
I can detail my arguments when and if necessary; nonetheless, anarchism is a desire for a society where there is "no need to be ruled or governed". It does not mean everything should be done in a chaotic way. On the contrary, an anarchist society would imply that individuals would be adequately and even highly qualified.
What anarchism does not like is simply "power" given to a single person, oligarch, or similar. As one of the most prominent anarchist, Bakunin, mentioned "Power corrupts the best".
This is why I am bridging this concept to the theme of cryptocurrency.
Our main concept is decentralization, isn't it? In a sense, everyone is invited and encouraged to be her/his own central bank, in a sense. Therefore, blockchain is a system that encourages an individual to be independent of the current financial system and barriers. Be it Steem, smart contracts of Ethereum, and others; all decentralizes the structure (power, metaphorically), and helps individuals create their own financial system and community (a community where there is no ruler). The rule is the code!
Thus, beyond any political tendency, I like the idea of cryptocurrency. Each and every individual, based on one's formation and personality will conduct one's life in this arena: be it social media, investment, exchange, library, energy distribution, whatever is possible now and in the future.
On the other hand, as the "dark side of the moon", I do not deny that both anarchism and altcoins might be used for different purposes that do not seem beneficial for the society (use of illegal material, fake ICOs etc); however, I rather see this inevitable since to ban something does not necessarily mean it will be ceasing of existing. History is my witness. Moreover, to focus on something illegitimate and try to kill a whole system is not a proper method for the development and advance of societies.
Therefore, in terms of philosophical approach, I tend to compare blockchain with anarchism. I take the positive aspects, as mentioned above. Please feel free to share your ideas.
Best wishes and regards.
