RE: Consciousness can never be fully understood analytically

in #philosophy7 years ago

Mystics, past and present, generally describe our "true nature" (as this primordial consciousness that you speak of) as the "indescribable", "inexpressible", "all-encompassing"; both "nothing" and "everything" and neither; neither one nor many; beyond concepts; beyond thought; some will say beyond even experience.

It certainly can sound like a bunch of hogwash, but most people who've had any type of experience with deep, "altered" states of consciousness, such as those who've subjected themselves to a heavy dose of LSD, will be able to relate with those, what appear to be, paradoxical and meaningless descriptions (negations).

It really appears that words can't touch the deeper truth about our consciousness. It must be personally observed to be understood.

I couldn't agree more with you.
