Redefine the unfined (the internet)

in #philosophy7 years ago (edited)

Redefine the internet
With cryptocurrencies, of course

When all information exchanges become economical
What is economy?

When all apps use their own cryptocurrency
What is segmentation* then?
What is "to buy" something?
What is the segmented self, in a segmented internet, in a segmented economy?
Is there any way for a big brother to live in a segmented web?

Do we gamify the internet maybe too much with cryptocurrency-ing everything? Will we gamify life itself?
Do we gamify, do we delegate money-handling inconvenience to algorithms, and keep for ourselves yet another sleek out-of-our-way tech, and maybe even a hidden disparity
And lest talk about economic classes, the poor and the rich
Measured in consumption (use) is richness of engagement, richness of knowledge?
Economy really (ideally, actually) becomes what it ideals (reals): a proof of value

Any further comment on technology is incomplete until acknowledged bitcoin
Any futurist, all speculation, whatever disregard for the new is by default outdated

Presents a revolution to all fronts of the internet
Segmentation
Corporation* take over
Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies are surging and already fighting
The fight for the future of the online

And what of us being silently exploited for data? Marx laughing so hard
Value extraction of data profiles
Data profiles, 2.0 self, any amount of data that is online, is worth something
Facebook, Google, Apple, Microsoft: they recollect this data
US state, Carrefour: they buy it
But then again, the roles of buyer and seller are interchanged no?

This is not to say that they have a surveiled version of yourself, an iluminati regime that exists out there, tracking your every move
From our perspective it might look like it
And cry for it
But from their perspective it doesn't seem like yet
Each corporation has their own process of data recollection
Their own version of yourself
They might share (buy) data and cross-reference them
They might get a lot of things wrong
They might even have 2 or 3 different versions of you in one same database, yet
Yet
Yet cause yet the internet is not one big corporation
I really don't know which has the most or which is the more commercial, who buys more and who sells, who dominates this secret market of personal data
But there are some people out there doing money, on our data

What if
What if you could give them no data?
Bueno, this is maybe an unreal utopia
What if you could see this profile of yourself?
What if you could edit it?
What if you could choose who to sell it to?
Better still, what if you could sell it yourself, and get the revenue from it?
This is one, but yet only one, of the bright fights the blockchain world is waging against the corporate segmented internet

What if we created a very tangible version of the ideal self (social self) that so existed in so modern and enlightened philosophies
What if, so tangible it is, that we can now have agency and property over it?
Like maybe having agency of your image
Like, ever so maybe, having agency over you actions

Privacy and property are capitalist creations
And oh so detrimental, in deed
But, my dear reader, if we don't reclaim agency over them, it will be reclaimed for us, by corporations

  • Corporate because there are corporations that exists out there that capitalize
  • Segmented is the internet, in different corporations, in different sites, and you in different versions of your online self, your secret 2.0 self in Google, facebook, apple, is all segmented, is all different
  • Finire: the end, the final, the limit
  • Definir: to delimit a concept, set the area where this concept is, and the line where it is no more
  • Redefinir: to replace the place in space this shape occupies
  • Un-finalbe: un limitable, un shape-able (maybe not so much as the internet is, but as we wished it was)
