No matter how their speeches were interpreted, they contain passion, commitment and power. For instance, Socrate was trying to defend himself before a jury of his peers in Athens but he did not succeed in saving his life but it has since become the soul and spirit of the discipline of philosophy. Infact, his speeches foregrounds the limitations of cognition and the relative value of life and death. The speeches presents humanity with a dilemma.

In his 263 words speech delivered in three minutes Abraham Lincoln argued that America was 'Conceived in liberty and dedicated the proposition that all men are not created equal'.
WINSTON CHURCHILL - He was credited with one of history's most powerful battle cries.
Churchill encouraged his people :' You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.
