FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited the battle casualty soldiers confined at the Army General Hospital (AGH) here on Tuesday, October 4.
During the visit, Pres. Duterte conferred the Wounded Personnel Medal to Staff Sergeant Benigno A Silvano Jr., Sergeant Lorenzo I Hernan, Corporal Ansley M Amlog, Corporal Jumadil A Iserail, and Private First Class Jay S Alayacyac.
The President also pinned new ranks to 18 Army enlisted personnel, currently recuperating at AGH, who were meritoriously promoted.
They were Staff Sergeants Ferdinand A Cuaresma, Danilo F Mondejar, Henry C Paguyo, Benigno J Silvano, Mark A Galutera; Sergeants Lorenzo I Hernan, Edwin D Peralta, Baguio A Balansi; Corporals Joel M Laman, Ansley M Amlog, Greggy Jinggoy F Banog; and Private First Class Jay S Alayacyac, Julius M Baquil, Jan Christopher A Dela Cruz, Jonathan M Conor, Ericson A Langub, Edmar A Rubrica, and Jestoni V Sabido.
Pres. Duterte also personally handed over cash assistance amounting to P100,000 to the wounded soldiers.
The awardees and the promoted personnel were wounded in the ongoing military operations against lawless group and in the campaign against illegal drugs.
After the hospital visit, Pres. Duterte had a talk with the troops at the Headquarters Philippine Army Grandstand.
In his speech, Pres. Duterte said that he does not seek the loyalty of every soldiers but has just one request for each one of them. "Just in case I go before the drug problem is solved, kindly take care of your country."
"Ang ibig kung sabihin is kahit mawala man ako, ipagkatiwala ko sa inyo ang magandang kinabukasan ng bawat Pilipino at ang ating bansa," said Pres. Duterte. #
