Although every day of the week in Cebu is always packed with excitement and plenty of things to do, Mondays are usually considered the quietest in terms of the number of people out and about. Besides going to work, most folks are not too keen to hit the town for some nightlife fun as they are usually still getting over their weekends.
I had met up with the rest of the crew (Ely and Anton) to discuss some content ideas regarding cost of living in Cebu compared to other parts of the Philippines. Not long after, we decided to go out to see what was out there as Anton was keen to brush up on his night game.
City Times Square
We knew it would an early night so we started out early and headed towards City Times Square in Mandaue City. Usually a nice place to hang out for drinks or have dinner. When we arrived there it was virtually dead. Nothing going on except for a private function at the LIV Super Club so we didn't stick around.

Parkmall
We crossed the street to Parkmall just before it was about to close. Surprisingly there were a fair bit of people around. There was a group doing a Zumba class at the front and the restaurants were moderately filled. We went into Savemore (an SM chain of supermarkets) to stock up on some snacks for later.
Here are just some sale items we found hilarious. SM marketing department definitely needs to step up their Value Pack Combo game. These combos makes absolutely no sense.
You know they really want to get rid of something when they start pairing crackers with macaroni, beer with luncheon meat, flavored water with wet wipes or tuna with serviettes LOL!
Cebu IT Park
As with most nights we usually end up hanging around Cebu IT Park. It is one of the nations top BPO(business process outsourcing) hub with call centre staff around the clock. With a massive selection of bars, restaurants and cafes, this is the only place in town that never really sleeps.
We go to a Hawaiian themed restobar called Shaka. More popular for its outdoor setting and ambiance than the food they serve. They also had a mediocre band playing that night but thankfully with the amps turned down low enough as to not completely destroy the mood.
Anton had completely given up on his night game, while Ely was content with his icy cold San Mig Light in one hand and a cigarette on the other.
Madness Starts here...
To the table next to us was a group of four people made up of three girls and one guy. We didn't really take much notice at first because we were too busy mucking about and talking nonsense as we usually do. Eventually attracting attention to ourselves, I get a glimpse of the girl sitting closest to me turn her head as our eyes meet and lock in place for a good second. It took some time to register in my head but eventually realized how stunningly beautiful this girl was.
After a second look, our eyes meet again and I see a little smirk in her smile. I then notice her taking her cardigan off to reveal her beautifully sculpted breasts peering over her tight dress all ready to reveal themselves to the world. By then I had signaled to the boys my intent to approach. They too wanted a piece of the action. At this stage we had not worked out whether the boy sitting across from her was her boyfriend neither did we care.
Everyone was waiting for the perfect time, but there was always something that got in the way. It was either the waiter asking for our orders or some random guy from the street trying to sell us pens.
As the waiter stands in my way obscuring my direct view of her, I notice their whole group stand to leave. Thinking swiftly, I reached for the waiters pen and receipt pad and wrote on it... "You are beautiful xxx, Tyler" with my number next to it. As they continue to leave I saw her give me a last look, so I made sure she knew what I was up to. I stood up and told the waiter by pointing to her while she was looking to run after them and hand over the note to her directly.
It turns out they were only moving to a different table near the stage because one of her friends wanted to sing a number with the band. So we were kind of anxious and eager to see her perform. We had build up high expectations as she totally looked the part on stage... but that idea was quickly destroyed as she excruciatingly butchered the Celine Dion song.
Sitting with our beers and a sigh of relief knowing that the ball was now in her court. We just continued with our nonsense and about minute later the waiter comes running back and hands me over this note...
Will keep you updated ;)
Madness Continues...
It was 12.30 am and we've all gone our separate ways. I am now at home just getting ready to jump in the shower when I decided to first read my Tinder messages which I had ignored while I was out. And this was one of them...
So what's a guy to do? Below is what followed via sms.
Moments later, she was with me in my Condo where we had a deep and meaningful conversation about life hahaha. But this post is getting way too long so I'll leave it there and let you guys use your imagination as to what happened next. LOL!
On a serious note, I should mention that in the beginning I was honestly concerned about the welfare of this person. It almost became indirectly my responsibility that nothing bad happened to her, simply because I was made aware of her so called "situation". Luckily for me though, it turned out to be nothing serious at all. She simply needed somebody to confide with and make her feel better. She was very smart and I really enjoyed her company. What's concerning to me is the level of trust they have in complete strangers. I mean, I have never met this person or even spoken to her once before this incident. What if she contacted somebody who was a complete nut case? I guess we'll never know.
So yeah... Mondays are often slow and quiet but every now and then it throws you a curve ball and the most unexpected turn of events happens. Be prepared at all times!
