Happy Wednesday Steemians!
Let me share to you my insights on this not-so-new trend, PHUBBING.
Phubbing
The habit of ignoring someone in favor of a phone.
Sounds ordinary but distressing, right?
Smartphones are taking attention away from our partners that causes strife most of the time. Yes, it is safe to say that pulling out our smartphones seems like an innocent act, but the act itself seems to speak a huge amount of value we only have for the people around us.
Mobile phones have become an inexplicable part of our daily life. The dependency we have on our phones is very unavoidable nowadays. It changed the world and made it smaller, but we could not deny that phubbing could lead to dissatisfaction and unhappiness for every relationship aside from the fact that it is an act of lack of courtesy for the person in front of you.
The result? Those people around us feel just a little less important and the relationship feels a little certain. The actions seem to imply a sense of disinterest in the surroundings including those people you are with.
The impact remains, regardless of the intent.
Personally, I’ve also experienced phubbing. My partner is the primary suspect for that. HAHAHA. But of course, patience and compassion are the key. Consider the fact that they are not doing it with cruel intent, but rather just a simple urge to connect, an irresistible one. Maybe we are also been doing it but unconsciously.
Remember that internet addiction and phubbing do not just disconnect us from others but also from ourselves. For every minute we spend on our phones, we’re not just compromising our relationships we are also losing time for self-care and productivity.
So for the next time you’re with someone, and you are tempted to use your phone – think twice! Do it for them and for yourself.
