President Nicolás Maduro assured that the Petro will allow "promote welfare and bring power to the people." That sounds very nice but the reality is different and because I say it for the following, because Venezuelans simply can not even buy it, because in the official website, in which the pre-sale of the digital currency is promoted, only accepts the transactions in dollars and euros and the rival currencies Bitcoin and Ether.
Due to the strong exchange control policies, Venezuelans can not freely acquire foreign exchange in the market. So the government excludes residents in the country by not accepting bolivars in the presale of the petro.
There are some elements that are still unclear at least in my way of seeing things as there are some elements that do not fit for example: within the rare and contradictory things you can notice that the white paper says that the petro is built in the Ethereum network, but the user's guide that the government published tells us something else and says that it is in the NEM network, something contradictory.
There are also doubts about the figures the government says it has collected so far in sales, because what the public blockchain says about the petro is that the entries are half of what the government indicates.
Just such a sad scam.
